KA’ANA WAVE CO // MOVING OCEANS
We create an endless VARIETY of waves, in a VARIETY of pools and lagoons, for a VARIETY of activities.
With this freedom, we can design an experience that is unique and special for your venue.

We used the opportunity to test our first wave shapes and to confirm that the CM7-Series would deliver a surf experience that was both completely safe and incredibly fun for everyone.
To share in this milestone, we invited over 250 people to come surf with us, including families, friends, industry insiders, professional athletes, developers, city planners, architects, resort planners, and aquatic designers.
The feedback we received and the knowledge we gained have proved invaluable as we continue to expand the CM7-Surf Experience.
Feeling safe is critical to our surf experience, and our approach to wave-making is novel, so we designed our first waves to operate up to only 60 to 70% of the machine’s total capacity.
The waves selected for the event were a river jump, a boat wake, and a right break barrel. The machine was a production unit CM7-M, housed in a custom-designed dock with canopy.
The dock was aligned to provide stunning views of Mount Sedgwick for photo ops and for guests hanging out on the dock.
The canopy produced a boathouse feel while providing guests with shelter in a location that is notorious for rain and snow.
Bluetooth marine speakers were mounted on the forward canopy truss to pump tunes from rider's phones out into the pool and create the vibe.
The operator’s console was suspended from a gantry and mounted to an inverted pedestal to provide flexibility for the operator.
The deck was surfaced with DalLUX/Life Floor panels, to provide a soft grippy feel under foot and to prevent unnecessary damage to surfboards.
Board racks were mounted to the forward canopy posts to provide quick access and board storage.

We learned from a pro that the CM7's currents are fun and can be made challenging for Kayaking. While the thought of whitewater kayaking is too intimidating for many, the prospect of engaging in this sport felt safe and achievable in the controlled environment of the CM7-Surf Pool.
We learned that we could recreate an open water environment for competitive swim training in the CM7-Surf Pool, but where a coach could still work on correct technique from the dock.
We learned that the currents could be used as a resistance training tool to develop swimmers’ strength and power for both aerobic and anaerobic power training. With higher flow rates came the emphasis and importance on stroke rate to stay in position.
From body surfing and inflatables to playing in the return currents, when we invited families and kids groups to come surf with us, we learned there were elements to the CM7-Surf Experience, beyond surfing, that could consistently attract and engage kids of all ages for hours on end.
Kids were very creative with finding other fun ways to play in the CM7-Surf Pool. For kids that were too intimidated to try surfing for the first time, play became a great way to break down the barriers and foster participation.
What makes this tech so cool is that it introduces people anywhere in the world to a form of wave riding. I’ve been fortunate enough to surf my whole life - this is so fun, people haven’t taken off their wet suits for three hours.
This can go anywhere in the world and everybody’s going to have a taste of it, and I think that’s awesome.
